Sending It Up to Having No Shame

by Backpageman on August 21, 2008

Backpageman sends it up to the Daily News for taking a page from the Post with the Women of the Games and the Men of the Games picture galleries. The women are here and the men here. Be prepared to shake your head in disappointment again and again. Oh, and yes, that woman is indeed wearing the Traditional Dress of Brazil… The wedgie…

Sending It up to Texas

by Backpageman on August 19, 2008

If there’s one thing that Backpageman loves more than the Backpage game, it’s Texas, or the idea of Texas. And nothing captures the dream of being a long-hair-having, football-playing, pick-up driving, Tyra Collette-dating Texan like Friday Night Lights, a truly great show that apparently nobody watches. That said, Backpageman sends it up the first ladies of Dillon. Thanks to Alvaro for the picture. Clear eyes, full hearts…. CAN’T LOSE.

Mad Dog Leaves WFAN. What say you Mushnick the Miserable?

by Backpageman on August 15, 2008

Twenty years ago, Russo was buying weekend air-time on WMCA, sending tapes to sports media critics, eager for ink, hungry to make something happen. And for all his knee-jerking and brainless defamations and butchered pronunciations and ability to get lost in an elevator, he made it happen.

And we’re told Sirius, bless its brainless bankroll, will pay Russo $3 million to rant about things he has, in almost 20 years, proven he knows little about. Good work, if you can get it.

More Mushnick here.

Backpageman Hangs His Head In Shame

by Backpageman on August 1, 2008

As many of the Heroes recall, when we all got together at Backpageology 08, at the New Canaan Hilton, I had one too many Blue Whales and admitted that I was indeed an Icelander fan. Now, one of the Heroes was kind enough to point out this feature on It’s a Newsday writer playing paintball with Icelander rookies, including, umm Anthony Perdicaro. Backpageman hangs his head in shame.

More here.

Mushnick the Miserable

by Backpageman on July 25, 2008

It’s Friday. The sun is shining. Life is good. Or is it? A morning dose of the Bottom Feeder of Bottom Feeders, Mushnick the Miserable.

A Taste: THAT we should never expect better from John Sterling doesn’t make it any easier. To be stuck in a car, forced to listen to the 20-year Voice of the New York Yankees describe a game, is to be the victim of a crime against baseball, broadcasting and the public trust.
All the misery!

An Open Letter to Carlos Delgado

by Alvaro De La Backpagearocha on July 21, 2008

Hello, Heroes. There’s something I need to say and I thank Backpageman for giving me the opportunity to say it here.

Dear Mr. Delgado,

I am writing you to apologize. On behalf of myself and many others
