And Your Backpages: October 21, 2008

by Backpageman on October 21, 2008

The Troika if flailing. Both the Post and News tried to create a controversy, while Newsday slums it. Again. With a hockey backpage. The Swami slump continues. Better than a robo-call… Your Backpages..

The Rays do it — and Backpage Nation comes out in force. Still no Swamis, though. Here they are, ready to spread the wealth. Your Backpages…

And Your Backpages: October 18, 2008

by Backpageman on October 18, 2008

As the Nation knows, Backpageman loves to go on and on about how hockey is the forgotten sport in this town. How forgotten? The Rangers win 1-0 in a shootout last night. Not a big game, by any stretch. But they are a local team and the Backpages do purport to be newspapers. But, rather than go with hockey, the News actually leads with Rays pitcher James Shields. Barry Beck is turning in his grave… Lame. Your Backpages…

A Note to Backpage Nation

by Backpageman on October 17, 2008

Earlier this week, many of you expressed grave concern for Backpageman. The site had gone dark, and, just like the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, Backpageman is there for the Game every day. But where were the Backpages? What were the bottomfeeders of the Post saying? Were the saps at the News following Joe Torre around with a box of tissues, hoping, praying he would cry over something? And was this finally the day for the Steaks on Ice to grab some Backpage glory? While I could repeat the half-hearted excuses I made to aggrieved Backpageologists over the past few days, I won’t. I have too much respect for the Nation and the Game. I come back to a wise note I received from one of the world’s preeminent motivational Backpageologists. Words we should all heed. Champions play hurt. Game on.

How big was the Red Sox comeback last night? Even the Nativists at Newsday looked beyond their shores to lead with the story. ( For those of you who saw MIRACULOUS on the backpage of Newsday and assumed it was for the Steaks overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, I suspect you were not alone.) Goodjob, goodjob, goodjob… Your Backpages…

The Phils dominate the Backpages. Is this really what it’s come down to, New York? Really? You couldn’t go with a Rangers Backpage? Or go find Willie and ask him something? Anything? Sigh. Well, the Swami slump continues, despite spirited Ph puns. Special tip of the birthday turban to the Midshipmen who inches closer to 40. Hard to believe. Joe the Plumber, if you’re out there. Here they are… Your Backpages…

The sad parade of out-of-town Backpages continues. Does anyone really care about the Rays? Your Backpages are trying their best to pretend they do…
