And Your Backpages: November 24, 2008

by Backpageman on November 24, 2008

Feels a little like summer on TomorrowsBackpage.com. The guesses came in faster than an Aaron Heilman change-up lands in the right-field bleachers. Welcome back, Heroes. Backpageman surmised that the Jints would take the News and possible the Post, too. I stand corrected. The Jets sweep the Troika. Well done. It’s feeling like 1985. Your Backpages…

And Your Backpages: November 22, 2008

The Knicks unload two of their “best” players. How big is this news? So big that even Newsday lead with a basketball story. Must admit, the News Backpage is best Backpage about a King since Jimmy “King” Leyritz went deep off Mark Wohlers in the ‘96 series. Your Backpages…

The Knicks’ midweek ownership of the Backpages continue, with one Archie Bunkereque holdout… Newsday. They just can’t make themselves cover basketball. They just can’t do it. Your Backpages…

The Jints roll over the Ravens and own the day. Tip of the proverbial Swami Turban to the Fedora for his inspired guess, NEVER MORE! Perhaps in a gentler, more literary era. Your Backpages…

And Your Backpages: November 15 & 16

by Backpageman on November 17, 2008

A little weekend catch-up for Backpage Nation. CC and the Yanks take Saturday, with the exception of the Knick fanzine that is the Daily News. Jints previews are the order of the day for Sunday. Your Backpages…

Great game and great win for Brett and the Jets. As Backpageman predicted, they ran the table, as they should have. I must say that the magnitude of the win is not well-represented by the lameitude of these Backpages. Even the Post didn’t take the opportunity to give a 64-point eff you to Belichick. How disappointing. B-A-C-K-P-A-G-E-S… Backpages! Backpages! Backpages…

Sending It Up to Anticipation

by Backpageman on November 13, 2008

Every once in a while, we learn of something so big, so exciting that the very anticipation can be too much to bear. Think Harry Potter, Star Wars, the 6th Grade Roller Skating Party.
Well, today we learned of something just like that: Mike Piazza is writing (though more likely he’s “writing”) a tell-all autobiography. Will he talk about how his father made him break rocks to learn the value of hard work? Will he talk about the cleansing power of flaxseed oil? Will he explain why just putting the tip in doesn’t make you gay? The world waits…

Story here…

Sending It Up to Bill Belichick

by Backpageman on November 13, 2008

This man knows just what to wear. Who cares that millions are watching. He’s gonna wear whatever the eff he wants, like this ratty, sloppy sweatshirt and “wind” pants. Backpageman sends it up to you, Coach.

Brett and the Jets run the table in advance of their showdown with The Sloppy Sweatsuit and the Pats. (Whenever I see Belichick and that sloppy sweatshirt with the cut-off sleeves, I can’t help but think of George Costanza and his love of the sweatsuit. Couldn’t someone pull Belichick aside, shake him a little and tell him to have a little self-respect?) Look for all Jets tomorrow as well. So, it’s game on for dormant Backpageologists.
