And Your Backpages: September 2008

by Backpageman on September 23, 2008

As many Backpageologists know, there are traditional geographic leanings to the New York locals. Long Island tends to be Mets-Jets-Icelanders country, while Manhattan, Westchester and New Jersey tend to go for the Yanks-Giants-Ranger troika.I hear there are Devils fans out there. I’ve just never met one. (Of course, there are many exceptions to the rule. For instance, Backpageman has a cousin who was a “die hard” Mets and Icelander fan in the 80s. But in the 90s he worked in Manhattan, preferred winning to losing and switched to the Yanks and Giants. Turns out dyin wasn’t so hard after all.) Well, the Mets-Jets-Iclelander fans have suffered far more, and, between the Mets and the Jets, last night was a painful one. My heart goes out to you, my brothers. All three papers went for the Met loss. Not only was it the bigger story but it also meant they didn’t have to stay late and wait for the Jet game to wrap. Here they are, wondering what they did to deserve this…. Your Backpages…
